White supremacy is rooted in the racist belief that white people are intrinsically superior to non-white people. White nationalism is based on the desire for white people to maintain political and socioeconomic power. For many white people, America’s growing diversity is praised yet for others it’s a source of major fear and anxiety. White nationalists feel the United States should preserve its white majority by drastically reducing both legal and illegal immigration and forcing non-white citizens to leave the country. You read that correctly, even legal immigration is a real problem for our current president’s administration and I wish the main stream media would do a better job of emphasizing this. Our president’s appointment of a white supremacist as his senior counselor/chief strategist as well as his senior advisor who is an alt right ally, proves this president has other ideas for our country and it’s not making us great or safe again but maintaining a nation by and for a white majority. This is exactly why the current administration has been out of chances to prove otherwise.
In regards to our president being manipulated by his “team” in the crafting of the unconstitutional Muslim ban, this is where I disagree with many others. I do believe our president is largely his own man. A man with his own history of racist comments and discrimination, so I’m not convinced our president needs to be persuaded to treat people differently based on race, sex, religion etc.
The unconstitutional Muslim ban is just the beginning in the assault on legal and illegal immigration. As a country, we cannot allow the current administration to mask racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia as a general concern about our national security when that’s clearly not the case.
